Konami Korner Store – Edgard Rodriguez

I’ve always loved video games, but handheld consoles have a special place in my heart, especially my Game Boy, where I spent countless hours playing my favorite games. Now that I’m forty, a husband, and a dad of three, I’ve realized how important it is to balance my time and be available. Opportunities for gaming will always be there, but I can’t be selfish with my time. Handhelds are perfect for me because I can pick them up, play for a bit, and easily head to sleep mode if I’m needed. I’ve already shared a lot about myself through my Multi-Mole-Verse of Madness poster and my Yoshi’s Cookies recipe (which was just a sugar cookie recipe), so I’ll leave it at that!

The recent news about Game Informer closing made me nostalgic for magazines I loved in the past, like EGM, GamePro, and Tips & Tricks. One of the best parts of those magazines was the outrageous ads. Inspired by this, I decided to create an ad that could have appeared in those magazines during the late ’90s to early 2000s. I imagined a “Konami Korner Store,” styled like a Circle K convenience store, which I thought would be awesome. I put together some snacks, wrote an over-the-top, rad ’90s-style ad, and designed a poster on Canva (though I still need to improve my Canva skills). Seriously, the snacks are delicious, so I recommend everyone check them out!

Edgard Rodriguez’s first console ever was and NES however, his hobby of video games began on the original Game Boy where he delved into Wario Land, Kirby’s Dream Land, Metroid II and Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Besides playing games he loves cooking, horror movies and reading. Hunt him down on Bluesky – Hyperpig.bsky.social
